Homework

Reading

Your child will be sent a reading book home each week based on their reading level. Please read this book with your child and return to school each day.  We also encourage children to read a book of their own choosing for pleasure.  Please record any additional reading in their reading records.

Maths

Children have a log in for NumBots and TTRS to help them develop their fluency in Maths and to become familiar with times tables.  Please support your child in accessing this at least once a week.  If you have lost your log in, please contact the class teacher.

Spelling Shed

Each week Spelling homework will be set on Spelling Shed from Spring Term. Your child will come home with log in details.

Children's weekly games and activities will focus on Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar that we have been covering in class.

By the end of Year Two, children must be able to read and spell most of these common exception words:

Mastery in Maths

Mastering maths means children of all ages acquiring a deep, long-term, secure and adaptable understanding of the subject. The phrase ‘teaching for mastery’ describes the elements of our classroom practice and school organisation that combine to give pupils the best chances of mastering maths. Achieving mastery means acquiring a solid enough understanding of the maths that’s been taught to enable pupils to move on to more advanced material.

Although we cover new topics each half term, it is important to revisit and review prior learning regularly so that children can build on their learning.

Why not use some of the stem Qs below and ask your child to teach you what they have been doing?
